I am a soldier in Western Europe, and my name is Knut Buckminster. I served in World War II for 2 years and fought in the Battle of Stalingrad and participated on the Blitzkrieg of Poland. The new strategy we decided to use in the war was called the Blitzkrieg and decided to first use it on Poland. We used quick speed before the Polish Army could react to what was actually going on. We attacked the country from the North, South and West so that we forced the Polish people to the east where the USSR was waiting. It took us only a month to succeed and completly occupy Poland and killed 150,000 people and took 680,000 POW's. The only downside to our invasion of Poland was that on the otherside of us was Britain and France waiting start war with us.While in the Battle of Stalingrad our infantry had to cross the cold winter terrain on our way to the city of Stalingrad. When we arrived in the city the Red Army was there and ready but we put up a good fight. We used many different strategies but in the end we were surrounded by the Russians and eventually finished. Overall this was the bloodiest battle in the war and i lost many of my friends such as Abelard Abendroth, and Bernt Gifford.

Throughout the war i saw many great men die and it pained me to see them go but i had to move forward. I think that being in the Army, especially Hitler's army was a great experience and opportunity. I think that my favorite battle was the when we Invaded Poland because they did not know what hit them and we went on a full attack, It was so exhilarating. By the end of the war i received many medals for the duty and service in the war. I am now 74 years old and i can still remember those days when I was young, fighting for my beloved country.
